I've been waiting for the new version of the "V" miniseries since I heard it was being done.
Oh sure, the original mini-series was some somewhat straight-forward. But for its time, it was a fun sci-fi/monster show. With the advances in special effects in the past 25 years, the success of various remakes in the past few years (Battlestar Galactica, Star Trek, etc.), and the excellent sci-fi in movies lately, I was hoping for a lot.
Last night, it finally aired. Though I have a week's worth of posts already in the queue, I had to push them back to react to it in my blog.
I'm underwhelmed. Oh, the actors they have did an OK job, and the effects are convincing, but there was not nearly enough tension. I don't know if the director was forced to put too much story in too few episodes, or if they picked the wrong music, or what, but I was not pulled in.
And, since I still don't have a digital recording device, I paid for this viewing of "V" by missing NCIS, which is essentially the only police show I watch (well, I'm trying NCIS LA now, since it fits well into the NCIS - Good Wife gap.)Oh, I will watch the rest of "V." I think it's only four weeks long. In the end, I hope it deserves my attention.
But it needs to get better if it's going to get a positive review in totality.

You missed a pretty good NCIS last night. I kinda sorta remember it, might have to re watch the end on my DVR though as we were celebrating with some wine, so it got fuzzy. I love NCIS and the characters, but my favorite part of the show is shouting at the TV when they are clearly NOT in Virginia but in the hills of southern California. My husband just laughs at me.

NCIS has great characters. I'm glad that NCIS LA didn't just try to duplicate them -- it's not possible. My wife describes NCIS LA as more of a "Bond" style show. Certainly more action, and more tech.

My hubby and I said the exact thing about the NCIS LA show. I'm not totally in love with it right now, its just filling the time gap until we watch Sons of Anarchy over on FX.
