"Shy"

Leah has chosen her two audition pieces for school, and one of them is "Shy" from "Once Upon a Mattress."

How wonderful! If she can pull it off (and of course she can!) she'll be really acting! It's such an "out there" song. We all have a picture of what Carol Burnett must have been like in real life, and we think of her as being like Princess Winifred -- someone very un-Shy, but who nevertheless compensated with enthusiasm for a non-traditional beauty and talent. I don't know if it's accurate, but I have always assumed that Burnett's career really was kicked off by "Mattress" and that signature song "Shy."

Leah, contrariwise, is shy, but can put it aside while performing. When she nails that song, it will be proof of her ability.
