2012 - The Year of ...



  • Cruise ship Costa Concordia sinks - several people die
  • SpaceX Dragon - first private-enterprise supply ship - docks with International Space Station May 25.
  • Dad has surgery - he and Mom stay at our house for a good portion of February and March.
  • Sherry's wonderful dress made from wood.
  • The warmest March on record includes a day when the daily low temperature (61F) is higher than the previous record high.  (March 18)  The new record high for the day was 80 F.
  • Trips included: Austin, Texas (twice); Lake Geneva, Wisconsin; San Francisco; Anaheim; Vienna and Munich; Chicago; Louisville; Las Vegas; Japan
  • Maya Analise Will - lost, but loved
  • Moved Leah out of NYU
  • Leah went to Trinity College in the University of Dublin, Ireland
  • Sarah and Troy bought their house.
  • Mass shooting at the premiere night of "The Dark Knight Rises" in Aurora, Colorado.
  • Sherry's back surgery
  • Big Movies:  The Avengers, The Dark Knight Rises, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey, Les Miserables
  • Curiosity lands on Mars

  • Michael Phelps finishes his swimming career with more gold medals (18) and overall medals (22) than any other Olympian.
  • Sikh temple shooting in Wisconsin

  • Hurricane Sandy devastated parts of the New York, New Jersey coast
  • Lucas was on a Disney Cruise which was rocked by Sandy on its last day.
  • Sherry made the Gandalf costume and Jester's hat for the boys.
  • Sherry interned for Richard Beckel at Primeau.

  • Marisa and Adam expecting again!  A boy!
  • Disney buys Star Wars 
  • 20 children and 6 adults slain at Sandy Hook elementary school in Newtown Connecticut 
  • Adrian Peterson rushes for a 2,097-yard season, 9 yards short of the single-season rushing record, having blown out his ACL and torn his MCL on December, 23 2011.  The Vikings (3-13 in 2011) ride him into the playoffs.
