The Ideas, Opinions and Musings of Steven T Will. My most frequent topics are movies, games and learning. Oh, and I like to share photos. But since I try to post most weekdays when I'm not on vacation, I delve into other things too: religion, words, news items, quotes. And then, on occasion, I post snippets and wisps. Welcome, and enjoy!

Super Mario Galaxy - III
Well, it has been close to two years since Super Mario Galaxy was released. [Yes, I blogged about it then.]
Last night, Sherry and I finished going through it for the third time. Well, that's not quite accurate. The second time we played, we only went as far as winning the game -- we didn't get all the "Stars" that mark the progress through the game. But this time, as we did the first time, we did.
One of the cool things about this game is that, even though it's basically a one-player arcade game, a second player can participate in the game. Sherry can use the second Wii-mote to gather "Starbits" which can then be used to get Mario coins (health), and collected for free lives. Also, she can use the Wii-mote to hold bad guys in place (nice!) and we even discovered she can keep some spaces from dissolving from beneath Mario. So, we get to pursue some goals with teamwork, which is an attribute I really enjoy in a video game.
I'm not sure I'd add it to my list of Great Games, but it certainly has many of the qualities. We had fun. And I bet this is not the last time we'll play it.
