The main things which seem to me important on their own account, and not merely as means to other things, are knowledge, art, instinctive happiness, and relations of friendship or affection.
- Bertrand Russell
I love this quote. I know too many people who think knowledge is only important insofar as it supports employment, or who think art is an "extra" which is merely a diversion, or who treat relationships as useful, but not inherently valuable. And those people, I believe, don't attain "instinctive happiness" because they are looking for profit or conquest.
May you learn something new today, just for the sake of learning it!
