Repost - The Wisdom of Linus at Christmas and a Christmas photo

According to the statistics blogger keeps, this post from December 18, 2009 has never had any hits.  I find it hard to believe.  But since it has one of my favorite Christmas photos, and also has a reference to "Merry Christmas, Charlie Brown," I thought it was time to repost it.

Christmas Centerpiece

Christmas is special for the celebrations, for the family, for the friends, for the food, for the giving of gifts, and for so much more. Yet, behind it all is the Birth, the Grace, and the Peace.
Charlie Brown: "Isn't there anyone who knows what Christmas is all about?"
Linus: "Sure, Charlie Brown, I can tell you what Christmas is all about. Lights please."
Linus: Luke 2:8-14 (KJV)
Linus: "That's what Christmas is all about, Charlie Brown."
Have a Merry and Blessed Christmas, everyone.

That exact passage always reminds me of the Christmas pageant when I was 12. I had to be the narrator. At least, at first I thought it was "I _had_ to be". But during the pageant, I realized that I _got_ to be the narrator, to be the one to say those great words while the silent costumed actors played out the scene.

Barbara - nice story! I think I would have been nervous to be a narrator, as a child. As I got older, though, it would have been my preferred role.
