Movie Micro-Reviews: Edition 98

This time, movies we saw on airplanes (which is not the best viewing environment) and in hotels Down Under.

Epic
63
Clever invention of a new kind of “little people” and their interaction with nature and people.  A little too predictable.
42
75
How did baseball become integrated?  What strength did it take Jackie Robinson and the man who hired him to make it happen?  Harrison Ford becomes Branch Rickey.  Chaswick Boseman gives a wonderfully restrained performance.
Mud
73
You’re a teenage boy. Your parents are not getting along. You meet a stranger who has given up everything for the love of a woman. Which way do you turn? What do you learn?  Really liked this one.
Hitchcock
78
Ostensibly about the making of “Psycho” this movie is mostly about the relationship of Alfred Hitchcock and his wife and partner Alma Reville.  Really good!
Safe Haven
55
A Nicolas Sparks romance. Fine for what it is.  A few surprises, which is nice.
Olympus Has Fallen
58
Could the White House really be taken by terrorists?  (Probably not.) Could one agent really be the hero?  (Probably not.)  But hey, this is escapism in the era of terrorism.
Oblivion
56
Two or three decent sci-fi ideas, but not fleshed out enough.  Too much Cruise.  Not enough Morgan Freeman.  And not enough sci-fi.
