Mark Twain's Home

Prior to planning our most recent trip, if anyone had asked me where Mark Twain lived, I would have said "Hannibal, Missouri."  While it is true that Samuel Clemens was born there, it turns out his "home" - the place the thought of as home and the place where he lived more than any other place, was Hartford, Connecticut.

We made it a point to visit his home while we were there, and it was educational and enjoyable.  (It didn't hurt that we happened to be there during the only nice weather we experienced on that leg of the vacation.)

The museum area has many of Twain's quotes posted around the walls, and those are cool.  It also has a little theater where the short film made by Ken burns about Samuel Clemens is showing.  But the real centerpiece is the house -- the house where Sam lived with his wife and three daughters.  The restoration and the period artifacts helped put us in the mindset of a visitor to that time and place.  We had a good time.  I recommend it.
