I had a chance to take a few hours and see Leah on a quick business trip. I met her at her dorm, and finally saw that. It was strange, this year, not moving her in. I have had no image of her surroundings in my mind when I talk to her on weekends. Now I can picture it.
She has a wall of Patrick's art by her desk.
It's a suite, so they have quite a bit of living room. There is a kitchen.
And a nook, with a harp. By the time I left, Carolyn was practicing on the harp. I'm told she will play at Carnegie Hall with a bunch of other harpists. And, as well all know, the way to get to Carnegie Hall is practice. [Sorry, no photo of Carolyn.]
Then I took her to eat at Max Brenner's, a restaurant that specializes in chocolate.
We had some very good food, but the specialty ice cream drinks were something else! Leah had a strawberry smoothie, and I had a chocolate milkshake. Mmmmm.
Then we went back to her room and I met her roommate, Lizzie. [Lizzie calls my daughter "Lee." That would be very confusing if Lizzie ever visited Rochester. She says she'd try to say "Leah" if she ever visits. She's welcome to come and try.]
But I had to say goodbye. Still, it will only be about three weeks until she's home again. I miss her already, but I had a great time seeing her in her NYC element and meeting Lizzie. Thanks for making time for me, Leah!
