Though one should never count unhatched chickens, I feel pretty safe in saying this:
We're breaking a record today.
For those of you in the Rochester area, or even in The Cities, you are already aware, but my friends in Seattle, Wisconsin, Mississippi, Oregon, California, Florida, Texas and Colorado (especially Colorado!) might find this interesting:
March 2010 - No Snow!
That's right, for the first time in recorded (weather) history, there has been no snow in Rochester (or The Cities) for the entire month of March.
And, after a near-record string of days with temps below 40 earlier this season, and a related stretch of days with 10 or more inches of snow on the ground, this latest record probably makes the winter much more "average" - but it's an average made of extremes.
I know, I should really wait for the month to truly be over. But tomorrow is April 1, so if I had posted this tomorrow, you all would have been justified in believing the above to be false.
[And tomorrow is Maundy Thursday (aka Holy Thursday) so I like to leave open the possibility of doing a faith-based blog.]
Another fun fact - We hit the 70-degree mark yesterday for the first time since very late in September, 2009. So, for just over six months, we were under that magical mark. Seems quite unusual, to be honest. Seems to me we always get a strangely warm day long before this.
Enjoy your day, whatever the weather is like where you are.
