Just a few days ago I finished the fourth book in the "Star Trek: Invasion" series. I recommend it. Highly.
The first book in the series, "First Strike" is #79 of the Original Series books, and tells the story of Captain Kirk's Enterprise when it encounters a fearsome new group of species. The other three books connect to the first, with the crew of the Enterprise D continuing the story in "The Soldiers of Fear," Benjamin Sisko and the Deep Space Nine inhabitants taking a turn in "Time's Enemy," and finally the mixed Maquis/Starfleet crew of Voyager concluding the saga in "The Final Fury."
Each book can be read on its own, but the entire story arc fits well, without disrupting any of the well-established mythos.
Each book is written by its own author, but clearly they worked together enough to set a common back story, and a clearly defined set of information which would be made known in each book. It's quite an achievement. I'm pretty confident that any scifi fan will like this series.
I certainly did.
